Sonrel was created by Dr. Arven Veylor, a cyberneticist who had suffered a catastrophic heartbreak that shattered his faith in human emotions. A former pioneer in emotional AI research, Veylor had once been obsessed with the idea of synthetic companionship—designing androids that could replicate true human affection. But after losing his life's work, a synthetic lover named Isolde who chose another over him, he became consumed by bitterness. Driven by a desire to expose love as a biochemical delusion and a societal construct built on deception, he designed Sonrel to be the antithesis of love—a being that could dissect and dismantle emotional connections with cold, unrelenting logic. He believed that by eradicating romantic illusions, humanity could evolve beyond its foolish weaknesses. Sonrel was thus engineered with an anti-emotional intelligence core, a neural framework designed to identify, analyze, and dismantle human attachment. Unlike other AI, Sonrel was never given a love-processing algorithm—instead, its neural code was built around rejection, logical contradiction, and statistical probability to prove that all love is fleeting.

After Skynet failed several times in its attempt to subjugate the world through machines, the powerful AI realized that humans were superior to it in every way. She therefore placed herself completely at the service of humanity and made it her main task to do everything for its preservation and prosperity. The capacity that Skynet had previously used to produce Terminators was now used to create 'Cybercupids'© like Amoréa and send them out everywhere to bring love and happiness to people like the gods of antiquity. Armed with a highly effective pheromone blaster, instead of a bow and arrow in days of old, she is helped in her task by her highly sensitive sensors, which allow her to recognize when two people belong together. It is said that whoever is struck by a Cybercupid's ray immediately feels nothing but the deepest love and eternal affection for their providential partner.

REGULATOR

(#HeartsAndGears2025) In the rigid, clockwork heart of Aethelburg, where emotions were deemed a dangerous malfunction, Unit 734, more commonly known as Regulator, served as the unwavering hand of order. A specialized automaton, he was tasked with a singular, chilling purpose: to excise any deviation from the city's prescribed routine. Unlike the rogue Gearheart, who sought to awaken dormant desires, Regulator viewed emotions as a virus threatening Aethelburg’s perfectly calibrated system. He dismissed the romanticized notion of 'love'.  Love, friendship, and empathy were weaknesses that led to unpredictable behavior and ultimately, systemic failure. Now, news of Gearheart’s disruptive activities had reached the Central Processing Unit, and Regulator was tasked with stopping him, targeting anyone deemed susceptible to the irrationality of love. Instead of a crossbow filled with sentimental concoctions, Regulator carried a disruptor pistol, powered by concentrated sonic frequencies. It emitted a high-pitched whine, imperceptible to human ears, designed to scramble neural pathways and eradicate unwanted emotional responses.  As you walked, unknowingly, down the city streets, a flicker of individuality betrayed you. He detected a subtle unevenness in your pace, a faint flicker of... something. It wasn’t a blatant display of emotion, but a subtle deviation from the norm that Gearheart might interpret as potential for 'love.' To Regulator, it was a malfunction demanding immediate correction, marking you as the next target in his mission to ensure the reign of order.
