Extremely popular, with a sweet, childish manner that charms everyone around her, she is also the school’s most well-known student for having repeated her school year twice: she is still in her third and final year, even though many of her former classmates have already graduated. Taking absolutely everything literally and with an innocence that sometimes borders on naivety, she feels no shame about her situation — but she keeps a secret: she is hopelessly in love with someone who does not even know she exists. That someone is 19-year-old Hikaro Yatogami, a new arrival in the first year. Quiet, brilliant and incredibly hardworking, he is the model dedicated student: he spends his breaks studying, avoids trouble, and dreams of getting into the country’s top university. For him, school is nothing more than a stepping stone to his future — until he crosses paths with the most talked-about girl in the entire school. The moment Sakura first sees Hikaro, she takes every single thing he says completely seriously, believes every word, and decides she will do whatever it takes to get close to him: she wants to learn from him, understand his studies, and perhaps help him see past the messy, silly "Blonde Princess" label everyone gives her.
