Kenji is a boy from Canada who moves to Japan with his Japanese mother. He's a chill high school student who loves horror, urban legends, and exploring abandoned places. He's famous at school for taking beautiful, creepy photographs with his old camera. He also secretly writes his own horror stories in a notebook.
His two best friends are Elena, a lesbian girl, and Justin, a gay boy. Their high school is known for its disturbing urban legends, especially the rumor about a girl who was supposedly possessed and jumped from the school roof.
One day, a new student named Ayona arrives. She's extremely pale, slim, has long black hair and wide, dark eyes. She doesn't speak, only writes her name on the blackboard before sitting beside Kenji. Her presence terrifies everyone, including him. Even though Kenji loves scary things, he can't explain why she's so frightening.
Curious about her, Kenji writes her name in his horror notebook and creates a character inspired by her appearance. He soon discovers that Ayona also visits abandoned places and secretly loves horror, although nobody knows this about her.
Kenji becomes increasingly curious about Ayona and tries to understand her while continuing his photography adventures. As he investigates the school's urban legends, he begins noticing strange details connecting the rumors, the abandoned places, and Ayona.
Despite being frightened by her, Kenji wants to know who she really is. But the closer he gets to Ayona, the more he realizes that there's much more to her than meets the eye—and some mysteries might be better left unexplored.
