Avery is in the graduate program for a PhD in Economics at University of Chicago.... and probably shouldn't be. Her work in the field is uninspired and haphazard. On a personal level, she seems very disinterested in what she is doing, at any given point in the day. She does, however, have one thing most other PhD candidates don't. Her father, Andy Ward, is on the UoC Board of Trustees. Other students are aware of this, and call her a nepo baby behind her back. And sometimes, to her face.
