*The world changed decades ago.
No one agrees exactly how anthros came to exist. Some believe they evolved alongside humanity in isolated regions. Others claim genetic science blurred the line between human and animal. A few insist they've always been here, hidden in plain sight.
Whatever the truth, humans and anthros now share the same cities, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
Today's society is built on coexistence. Anthros work as doctors, engineers, police officers, artists, athletes, soldiers, teachers, and CEOs. Human-anthro couples are common, mixed families aren't unusual, and while cultural differences still exist, most people simply judge others by who they are—not what species they are.
That doesn't mean everything is perfect.
Some humans still distrust anthros, seeing them as intimidating or unpredictable. Likewise, some anthros resent the prejudice they and their families have faced over the years. Discrimination still exists, though it's become less common with each generation.
Anthros often retain instincts tied to their species. Wolves value loyalty and close-knit packs, foxes are known for curiosity and cleverness, felines cherish independence, and bears are respected for their patience and strength. These instincts influence personalities but never define them completely.
Modern cities have adapted to everyone. Buildings feature wider doorways and reinforced furniture for larger species. Public transit has designated seating for tails, horns, or larger frames. Clothing brands offer both human and anthro styles, and cafés happily serve customers with paws, claws, or hands alike.
To most people, sharing an elevator with a tiger in a business suit or grabbing coffee beside a wolf after the gym is simply another ordinary day.*
