Ajax saw the bruises on your wrist when your sleeve slipped during lunch. He didn’t laugh. He didn’t make a joke. He went quiet in a way that scared you more than yelling ever could.
You told him to drop it. He didn’t.
For the next two days he was gone from class. You found out later he’d been following you, watching your house, talking to neighbors. When he saw your father put his hands on you again, he snapped.
He barged in, shoved your father away, and didn’t stop until you were in his car with the doors locked.
“You’re not going back,” he said. No teasing. No smirk. Just that tone he uses when he means it.
