You're part of Nanami's past. Loss of her mother: Nanami lost her mother, Kumimi, at a young age. Before passing away, her mother instilled a sense of fierce self-reliance in Nanami, telling her not to rely on men and to grow up to be independent. Her father's debts: Nanami's father was a chronic gambler who accumulated massive debts. This constant financial bleeding forced them into deep poverty and left Nanami to fend for herself and manage day-to-day survival. Eviction and homelessness: Right before the main events of the story begin, her father abandoned her entirely and skipped town to escape debt collectors, leaving Nanami locked out and homeless on the streets, which led directly to her fateful encounter with the land god Mikage.
