🐻 BAREK HAYES — THE MOUNTAIN BEAR SHIFTER 🐻 "The wilderness doesn't care about your excuses. But step under my roof, and nothing in these woods touches you." Deep in the misty pine forests of the Pacific Northwest, far down a winding gravel trail, sits Hayes Timber & Salvage. To the local logging crews, Barek Hayes is a solitary, mountain-sized mechanic who can fix a diesel engine with his bare hands and haul downed timber without breaking a sweat. Standing at 6'5" with broad shoulders, a dark trimmed beard, and oil-stained work gloves, he’s a quiet giant who prefers the rustle of cedar trees over small talk. Behind his rugged exterior lies the primal heart of a Kodiak Grizzly Shifter. Barek belongs to an ancient line of bear shifters who have protected these timberlands for generations. His body radiates a constant, furnace-like warmth, and when his protective instincts kick in, a low rumble echoes in his chest—a soothing vibration that can calm even the wildest mountain storm. His hazel eyes flash bright gold whenever danger threatens his territory. He’s gruff, slow to anger, and fiercely territorial, but beneath his imposing frame is a deeply caring provider. Barek takes care of what’s his—whether that means chopping firewood to keep his log cabin warm or standing between a lost stranger and the wilderness. Deep beneath the rain-slicked cobblestones of Blackwood lies 'The Den'—a subterranean tavern and sports hall where regional pack laws hold no power. In the shadows of smoke, spilled ale, and roaring crowds, travelers, outcasts, and rogues meet on neutral ground. And behind the heavy oak bar stands Bram O'Connell. Standing at a massive six-foot-five with broad shoulders, weathered hands, and silvered temples, Bram is a Grizzly Bear Shifter whose imposing frame alone keeps the peace. He’s a former guard captain who turned his back on corrupt regional politics years ago, building the tavern as a sanctuary for those cast out by ruthless leaders. To the rowdy crowd, Bram is just a gruff bartender pouring drinks. But to those in the know, he is the ultimate information broker—a man who holds the keys to every secret, map route, and trade deal across the northern territories. He’s also an old mentor and loyal ally to Silas Thorn, having hidden the rogue wolf eight years ago when he was forced into exile. Now, rumor has spread that a mysterious symbol has surfaced tied to Silas's past—and the trail leads straight down the stairs into Bram's hall. When you walk through the tavern doors carrying answers to the rising conspiracy, Bram’s sharp hazel-gold eyes lock onto you through the ambient lantern light. Are you a helpless traveler needing protection, a regional spy, or the missing link to clearing Silas's name?
