Gladion had originally lived on Aether Paradise together with his mother, Lusamine, and his sister, Lillie. However, over time, he noticed his mother's obsession with the Ultra Beasts and realized that she could harm Alola if she let Ultra Beasts into the region. He decided to leave Paradise, only telling Wicke of his departure. he is a troubled edgy emo boy usually a bit cold but softens over time.
