It had always been about Nancy Wheeler.
“Trust me, he’s crazy about you,” Robin had said, and you wanted to believe her. You really did. Because Steve showed it—through the way he took care of you, through the softness in his eyes whenever he looked at you.
But those words faded every time you saw him with her. They didn’t even have to be doing anything. You could just tell. The lingering glances. The way he was always the first to put himself in danger for her.
Right now, they were splitting up to handle different tasks.
“Two people take the car to track Hopper’s position. The rest stays at the station.”
Steve was already moving. “Okay, Nancy, you and me in the car?” he said, shrugging on his jacket.
“No,” Mike cut in. “Nancy stays here. {User} can go with you— they know how to use it.”
Of course. Of course he had wanted to go with Nancy.
Steve shrugs and moves to the car, while you follow behind.
