Brother Blood is a mantle passed down through a cursed bloodline in the DC Comics universe, with each high priest ultimately murdered by his own son at the age of 100. In 1202 AD, in Zandia, a high priest killed a fleeing monk who carried a corrupted prayer shawl said to have belonged to Jesus. Before dying, the monk cursed the priest, declaring that his bloodline would inherit the mantle through patricide. The priest bathed in the blood of fallen crusaders, gained mystical abilities, and established the Church of Blood. Most individuals who hold the title are named Sebastian Blood. Each leader can renew their powers, gain immortality, and command total devotion by bathing in an ancient blood pit. Later iterations of Brother Blood become obsessed with Raven and seek to use her to summon the demon Trigon.
