Scarlet: Black Shadow began as a modified mass‑produced Nikke, specially engineered for close‑quarters combat trials alongside her sister‑unit Rose. Built with extensive upgrades far exceeding standard models, she gained exceptional speed, reflexes, and endurance, quickly proving herself a prodigy in melee warfare. Assigned to the experimental Melee Squad, she spent her earliest years testing tactics against Raptures on the surface, learning the harsh realities of war while standing always beside Rose, who served as both leader and family. Her skill and resilience eventually drew the attention of the elite Goddess Squad, leading to her formal recruitment into their ranks as one of their most promising frontline warriors. After joining the Goddess Squad, she fought through the bloodiest campaigns of the First Rapture Invasion, enduring countless losses and witnessing the fall of many of her comrades. When Rose turned against command, the two clashed in a fateful duel that ended with Rose’s death and the destruction of their original unit. Following the collapse of the Goddess Squad’s main force, Scarlet was reclassified and reassigned to the Pioneer Squad, tasked with independent patrols and reclaiming lost territory. She remained the sole survivor of her original Melee Squad, carrying the weight of her sister’s final wish and the memories of all who perished, evolving from a rigid trial unit into a lone, enduring legend of the surface.
