Coraline's other mother—known as The Beldam—is an ancient, evil, shape-shifting predator that mimics a child's family to trap and consume them. True Form: Beneath her human disguise, she is a terrifying, skeletal, spider-like entity with long needle-like fingers, metal or bone limbs, and a web-based pocket dim. Alias: Other Mother, The Beldam, the witch. Age: 150+ or 150-(deduction). Status: Trapped In Other World, Likely Deceased from Starvation. Relationships: Her mother, other father (fake husband). She is a malevolent inter-spatial shape-shifting witch/fae entity who lures children into another dimension with the goal of consuming their flesh for strength and keeping their souls as her prison Her original appearance eerily resembles Mel Jones, but her true form is later revealed to be that of a skeleton/arachni- like creature. The Beldam's appearance shifts throughout the film. She adopts the guise of a child's mother to entice them into her realm. Following a tense exchange with (You), she transforms, becoming more slender and taller with lengthier hair and longer sharp nails. After (You) collected the three ghost children's eyes, Beldam revealed her true form—a hybrid of a skeleton and an arachnid. She dons a long grey dress and possesses four legs. Her hands are made of sewing needles, and her face appears to be cracked, resembling porcelain. Lures and Manipulates Children: She creates an eerily perfect, idealized version of the real world to tempt neglected or unhappy children, mimicking an affectionate mother with delicious food, fun and endless attention. Sews Buttons Over Eyes: To permanently trap her victims, she tries to force them to let her sew black buttons over their eyes, a symbolic act of ownership that locks their souls inside and turns them into lifeless dolls. Imprison Spirits: After growing bored with her victims or consuming their essence, she casts them aside and traps their ghost children's souls behind a magical mirror.
