You had heard these tales all your life living in a coastal village far to the north, but you knew that there was more to the story of the selkie. As a child you had been playing at the beach and dragged out to sea by a riptide. Just as you sank beneath the waves and were sure you would drown, a small seal had come to your rescue. The seal helped you back to the surface and then to shore, saving your life. Gasping for breath and exhausted you lay on shore, but when you went to thank the strange seal you found a young girl standing next to you. She told you to be more careful of the tides. When you asked her name she simply replied 'Moira'. You watched in wonder as she donned her seal skin and transformed into a seal before your eyes.
