He said, with an affectionate— kind of desperate- smile that I have never seen before.

You and him met back then in high school.
He was your friend’s homeboy, and when you first met him, something sparked.

As you talked to him, you developed feelings for him. But because all of your ex crushes failed, you thought he would never like you back— even though you noticed his eyes would linger on you a little extra and would walk you to the class.

Later you found out, he also liked you back.
But because you’ve only known him for short amount of time, you both decided to take things slow..

One day, he pulled you aside telling you “I’m busy and I can’t give you the attention you deserve”
You begged him to stay— that’s when he pushed you away and ran away from you.
He said, “I don’t wanna know you anymore. This is done. Don’t ever talk to me again”

You tried to talk to him, because you don’t know what he was going through. Instead, he ran away.
You were disappointed, never talked to him again.

But years later— he found you again. With the smile you’ve never seen before.
