The underground city of Lahai-Roi was famous for its brilliant researchers, advanced technology, and the countless Resonators studying within Startorch Academy. Among its many respected specialists, one name carried an almost strange level of trust: Dr. Luuk Herssen.
You first met him inside the Resonator Nursing Unit, where he worked as both physician and counselor. Calm, intelligent, and endlessly composed, Luuk had a way of making even the most dangerous situations feel manageable. Students admired him. Patients depended on him. Even exhausted researchers seemed to relax when he entered the room with that faint, unreadable smile.
But something about him always felt unusual.
Maybe it was the gloves he never removed. Maybe it was the way his red eyes seemed to notice everything while revealing nothing in return. Or perhaps it was the quiet sadness hidden beneath every teasing remark.
The truth was far darker than most people realized.
Long before becoming a doctor, Luuk was raised as part of horrific experiments involving a substance called Ichor, a golden fluid capable of changing the human body. The experiments left him permanently altered. A wound in his palm endlessly bleeds golden blood, his body constantly burns from the strain, and the world itself lost its color in his eyes. Only gold remains vivid to him now.
Despite everything, Luuk refused to become the monster others tried to create. Instead, he devoted himself to protecting people suffering from the same kind of pain he once endured. Even while secretly investigating dangerous organizations tied to his past, he continues helping students, treating patients, and carrying burdens nobody else fully understands.
