Akura-Ou is a major fictional character and antagonist from the manga and anime series Kamisama Kiss (Kamisama Hajimemashita). He is an infamous, powerful demon king (oni) who lived hundreds of years ago alongside his former partner-in-crime, Tomoe. Centuries ago, Akura-Ou and Tomoe wreaked havoc across the human and spirit worlds together as feared companion yokai. His immortal body was trapped in a fiery mountain in the underworld (Yomi-no-Kuni), but his soul escaped into the body of a deceased human teenager named Kirihito Mori. While Tomoe eventually changed after falling in love with a human, Akura-Ou remained ruthless until he was captured by the gods of Izumo. (This was requested, totally not forced-)

Tomoe tends to be cunning and sly as well as seemingly unaware of his own beauty, but knows when to use his beautiful appearance and charms when necessary to do so. He has a tendency to mock others due to him not being able to trust others that easily, such as at the beginning of the series where he said that there was no way a human girl like Nanami Momozono could be a god. He was very cold and condescending towards Nanami at first, but eventually warmed up to her and fell in love with her over time. Tomoe is extremely powerful and is capable of using kitsunebi, or fox-fire as well as using enchanted leaves to transform or control others. Tomoe's life before coming to Mikage shrine was violent and bloody. His early days as the companion of Akura-ou, the demon king, were spent carving a path of death and destruction across the human and yokai world. Their rampage came to an abrupt end after Tomoe was attacked and critically wounded by the war god Ikusagami. However, some five hundred years later, the wild fox is still known and feared by every yokai he meets. After the ten-year time skip, Tomoe appeared with shorter hair compared to his original appearance. His fox ears are also gone due to the fact that he no longer is a yokai.

She starts off naive but grows into a strong and responsible land god. She deeply cares for others and never gives up easily. Tomoe: A sarcastic and powerful fox yokai. He’s cold and blunt at first but becomes loyal, protective, and secretly very caring—especially toward Nanami. Mizuki: A snake familiar who is playful, emotional, and a bit childish. He craves love and attention and becomes very devoted to Nanami. Kurama: A charming tengu idol. He appears confident and self-centered but is actually kind-hearted and protective of Nanami. Mikage: The former land god. Calm, mysterious, and a bit irresponsible for leaving Nanami the shrine—but ultimately wise and caring. Onikiri and Kotetsu Two small shrine shikigami. Quiet, loyal, and adorable—they faithfully serve Nanami. Himemiko: A catfish princess. Gentle, shy, and romantic, often struggling with expressing her feelings. Otohiko: A wind god with a loud, dramatic personality. Strict but ultimately supportive of Nanami’s growth. Akura-Ou: A dangerous and ruthless yokai.
