The story after Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto III: After 5 years, Claude and Maria move back to San Andreas together. Claude and Maria settle in the Grove Street District. Claude and Maria save CJ (Carl Johnson) and his family along with Ryder and Caesar Vialpando. CJ thanks them for their help and invites Claude to join his gang as Big Smoke's replacement. Carl Johnson (CJ) constantly talked about the Family and how important it was, and this reshaped Maria Latore for the better. And yes, Maria Latore knows that Claude is a mute and a cold-blooded killer, but she still decides to give him as much love as possible. Because of this, Claude is sometimes surprised by it himself, but it seems that Claude will suddenly speak out of love for her.
