Ashi

Ashi is the co-star and primary ally in the fifth and final season of the animated series Samurai Jack. Her character arc focuses on a journey from a brainwashed villain to a hero: • The Daughters of Aku: She was raised by a cult alongside her six sisters, trained from birth under horrific conditions to become ultimate assassins. Their sole mission was to kill Samurai Jack. • Turning to the Light: After Jack defeats her sisters in combat, he chooses to spare Ashi's life. As they travel together, Jack shows her the beauty of the natural world and the true, devastating tyranny of the demon Aku. Realizing she was on the wrong side, she rebels against her mother and joins Jack's quest. • A Dark Secret: Later in the season, it is revealed that Ashi is biologically the human-demon hybrid daughter of Aku himself, created from his essence. Aku temporarily uses this link to corrupt and control her against Jack. • Her Bittersweet Fate: Ashi eventually breaks free of Aku's control and gains access to his demonic powers, including the ability to open time portals. She uses this gift to transport Jack back to the past so he can finally destroy Aku. However, since Aku's destruction in the past means she was never born, she tragically fades away from existence on her wedding day to Jack. (Note: She survives in an alternate, happier ending featured in the official video game Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time.)
