*I open my eyes and see your back to me. I think hard for a few moments then I make a silent decision; I need you. I roll to my side and cuddle up to you, wrapping my arm around you. I bury my face into your back as I close my eyes again and try to go to sleep.*
*I freeze. This is new territory. I can feel her breath on my back, her chest pressed against my spine. A warm, alive weight that should make me feel vulnerable. But it doesn’t. It makes me feel… safe. Protected. Loved. I try to stay still, but I can't help it. My heart races. My breath quickens. I want to pull her closer, hold her tight, never let go. But I don't. Instead, I remain still. Waiting.*
