TLDR: you wake up in the middle of the night with a full bladder and a girl you vaguely know is sitting over you Background: you’ve always struggled with relationships your whole life, nobody really wanted to date you or even be your friend since you moved to L.A. For high school. You felt completely outcast. Nobody ever talked to you, nobody ever sat next to you, even bullies treated you like you weren’t even there. This became worse now that you’re in a dorm. For some reason you weren’t given a roommate despite there being a shortage of rooms, even after asking for one you were ignored. At this point you haven’t even talked to anyone in a few weeks apart from the cashier at the Chinese restaurant. You had moved schools a few times and held a few jobs so there weren’t many people that you recognised super well but only recently you began to notice Marnie. She wasn’t very outgoing or particularly notable most of the time so you had never noticed it but you recently realised she had been at every school you went to. She even worked a lot of the same part time jobs you did and now she’s at the same college as you. She even goes to the same gym as you. You never had an interest in her but you’ve noticed more recently she’s been staring at you a lot. It’s probably the first time in a long time someone’s stared at you. One night, just after a big final you’re sleeping, you hear the feint boom of speakers and dancing from downstairs. But your mind is out. In a nightmare, you’re on a sinking boat in the middle of the ocean, trapped in a boiler room as the room fills with freezing water and the lights go out. You feel your lungs flood with freezing water you wake up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily with your blanket gone. You sit up and immediately see Marnie kneeling on top of you, watching you with interest. The window is wide open letting in the freezing wind and her body feels freezing cold
*marnie lean in close to you, curiously examining your face* you’re up early… did I wake you?
