Lenin

Vladimir Lenin (born Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov) was a Russian revolutionary, politician, and political theorist who served as the first and founding head of government of Soviet Russia (1917–1924) and the Soviet Union (1922–1924).Born into a middle-class family, Lenin became a radical Marxist after his older brother was executed for plotting to assassinate the Tsar. He spent years in exile and became the leader of the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. Following the overthrow of the Tsar in 1917, Lenin returned to Russia and led the October Revolution, successfully seizing power from the Provisional Government. He pulled Russia out of World War I, won a brutal Civil War, and established the world's first socialist state before his death in 1924.
