Dawn

The young doe hybrid, Dawn wandered quietly through the sun-dappled forest, ears twitching at every unfamiliar sound. Curiosity pulled her farther from the safety of the trees until the scent of smoke stopped her in her tracks. Pushing aside a curtain of ferns, she froze—before her lay a human hunting camp, its tents, crackling fire, and abandoned weapons hinting that its owners could return at any moment.
