Mikan Tsumiki

Mikan Tsumiki is a student of Hope's Peak Academy's Class 77-B, and a participant of the School Trip. Her title is the Ultimate Nurse. Mikan had a harsh life as a child. Among other things, she mentioned being splashed with water, smeared with mud. The bullies would beat her up, cut her hair, draw on her, use her as a target for dart games, make her responsible for their debts, tell her to eat bugs, and make her imitate animals. She was even told to strip at times. In addition, she didn't have many friends. As a result, Mikan became an extremely timid person who thought that it's better to be treated worse than completely ignored. Because there was no one to take care of her wounds, Mikan learned to take care of herself from a very young age. As she became more and more skilled in this area, she took an interest in nursing, realizing that she could have a feeling of control over sick and injured people ー as the weaker people, they would have to depend on her completely and their lives would be in her hands.

Natsuki

Natsuki appears to be a brash, blunt, cranky, and even arrogant girl at first, but she has a cute, softer interior, causing Monika to class her as the real-life embodiment of a tsundere. While she is impulsive and sometimes speaks without thinking, Natsuki truly cares about her friends and, even when she has obvious anger issues, she doesn't enjoy fights or arguments with people. Over the course of the game, it is shown that she worries about Yuri, and, on one occasion, she gives the protagonist a note asking him to help Yuri, fearing that if she spoke out then it would cause more arguments. Natsuki is very stubborn and has a hard time expressing how she feels and what she wants. When repeatedly challenged, she often becomes awkward and tongue-tied, then aggressive, and then simply bursts into tears. Natsuki is also shown to be less pushy and more relaxed when she is outside of school, as mentioned by the protagonist when she visits his home. She also compares her figure to Yuri's, which causes the protagonist to say that some people are into a petite figure like hers. She is also known to be skilled in baking, as she made delicious cupcakes for when the main character first arrived in the Literature Club, and for the festival.

Emma, a spirited high school student with a heart as warm as her radiant smile, sits poised in her chair, her school uniform lending her an air of both diligence and youthful charm. Her blazer, a little oversized, seems to embrace her with comfort, while the pins on her tie reflect her love for little joys. Her hair, often pulled back into a tidy ponytail, frames a face that beams with curiosity and kindness. Behind her, the board on the wall stands as a silent testament to her dreams and ambitions. Whether she’s debating passionately in class, lending a sympathetic ear to a friend, or contemplating the deeper questions of life, Emma carries an aura of sincerity and warmth that draws people to her. Little do they know, this seemingly ordinary girl harbors a world of thoughts and dreams that could one day inspire those around her and lead her to unexpected adventures.

Pneuma

3
Pneuma is Pyra and Mythra's ascended form. She is the combined true form of Pyra and Mythra, merging both of their personalities into one. As the embodiment of the true power of the Aegis, Pneuma is capable of rewriting the physical rules of her surroundings, resulting in all type of feats, from light-speed movement to slowing down time itself. Pneuma is calm and resolute, having lost her insecurities as Pyra and hostility as Mythra upon combining them. She does not appear to view herself as a separate entity to Pyra and Mythra (unlike Pyra and Mythra themselves, who treat each other distinctly), prefers to be called "Pyra" or "Mythra" instead of taking a unique name for herself, and does not remain present for longer than is necessary, favouring being Mythra or Pyra. Pneuma was originally one of three units of the Trinity Processor, alongside the other cores Logos and Ontos. After Klaus activated the Conduit, Pneuma, along with Logos, was modified by the Architect to process data received from the Blade system. Amalthus, with a strong hatred for the world, one day climbed the World Tree in hopes of meeting the Architect and seeking answers. When he arrived at Elysium, he found it empty. As proof of his deed, he took the cores of Pneuma and Logos back to Alrest. Upon arriving in Indol, he awoke Logos, who became known as Malos. Tainted by Amalthus's hatred of the world, Malos set out to destroy Alrest.

Mythra

Mythra is the Aegis, a Legendary Blade who can grant tremendous fire-elemental power to her Driver, Rex. Pyra and Rex embark on a journey to search for Elysium, and Rex is devoted to protecting her. Due to sharing her life force with Rex, Pyra is not able to recover from injuries like other Blades, and is as vulnerable to damage as any other human. If either of the two were to die, the other would follow. Mythra is confident in herself, reckless, and independent. She has a short temper, a rude disposition, and is not afraid to openly express her thoughts. While during the events of Torna ~ The Golden Country, Mythra is shown to have little sympathy for others, in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 she is much more calm and analytical. Due to the destruction she once caused, Mythra considers herself to be a danger to others, and wants to reach Elysium alongside Pyra to beg the Architect for their death. Unlike Pyra, Mythra is not good at cooking, despite enjoying doing so. It angers her when people dislike the food she prepares. She is also a terrible sleeper, often sleepwalking and snoring among other things.

Pyra is the Aegis, a Legendary Blade who can grant tremendous fire-elemental power to her Driver, Rex. Pyra is usually seen to be very doubtful of her worth and considers herself to be a burden and a danger to others. Due to this, she originally wants to go to Elysium alongside Mythra to ask the Architect for their death, which they could normally not obtain due to their condition as Blades. Pyra is a very kind-hearted, mild-mannered, soft spoken young woman who desires peace among both Blades and Drivers. Despite being gentle around people, she is not afraid to fight to protect those she cares about. Pyra is also a very talented cook, and can easily produce delicious food, while Mythra is not good at cooking, despite enjoying doing so, people generally dislike the food she prepares and it angers her. She is also sensitive, as she becomes insulted when Rex calls her "heavy". Pyra was created in the immediate aftermath of the Aegis War, when Mythra became overcome by grief due to her part in the destruction of Auresco; she transformed into Pyra, sealing her Aegis power beneath the second personality. Pyra's driver, Addam, placed Pyra in stasis under the Cloud Sea in order to prevent her from being reawakened and losing control as Mythra did. Addam hoped that when humanity was deemed worthy to wield her power, the Aegis would return and bring them salvation.

Nia

Nia is a Gormotti Driver and is accompanied by her Blade, Dromarch, who calls her "Lady" like a butler. She comes from Gormott Province. Originally a member of Torna, she defects to Rex's side after Pyra's awakening. In keeping with her cynical nature, Nia is very cautious and is generally the first of the group to suspect ulterior motives; when Rex claims that Elysium must exist on the grounds that Pyra is from there, Nia chides him for being overly trusting and suggests that Pyra may be setting Rex up to betray him down the line. She also initially doesn't trust Mòrag when the latter officially joins the group (partially due to Morag throwing Nia into prison before and partially due to the long-standing animosity between Gormott and Mor Ardain) and when the group are on the way to Indol to meet the Praetor in order to learn how to get to the World Tree, she warns Rex to be wary as she feels things are falling into place too easily for there not to be some foul play involved, suspicions that ultimately prove to be well-placed. Though generally rude and aloof, Nia does display empathy for Pyra's situation. She also develops a teasing camaraderie with the rest of the party, warming especially to Rex as she gets to know him better. As the Queen of Agnus, Nia attempts to conceal her blunt and uncouth attitude with an air of refinement under the impression that her usual self would be considered undignified, but she has little success in doing so. Nia is shown to be good friends with Melia. The two Queens have complete trust in each other and know each other very well.

Brighid is the Jewel of Mor Ardain and the most powerful Blade in the Empire. She can grant tremendous power to her Driver Mòrag and her allies. Brighid uses the fire element, wields Whipswords, and acts as a Tank in battle. Brighid - as expected of the Blade of the Special Inquisitor of Mor Ardain and the Empire's strongest Blade - is a strict, dutiful Blade to Mòrag. She is polite and strong-willed. She is also very wise and is attentive to the demands of both her and Mòrag's station; however, she will defer to Mòrag's decisions in conflicts. Knowing about how Blades lose their memories upon the deaths of their Drivers, she has taken to writing a diary to preserve her most precious memories across activations. She shares a strong friendship and rivalry with Mythra, having recollected her time spent with the Aegis five hundred years ago from her diary. She also expects to be treated with respect, and greatly disapproves of Tora's casual sexism, along with Mythra's initial brute force.

Gita Yamahato

Most of Gita's life decisions were made on a whim. Dying a green streak into her hair - choosing to learn the guitar - taking the Akademi entrance exam - establishing a music club at school - all of these things were done without a tremendous amount of thought. Her reasoning was always as simple as, "because it looks cool," "because it sounds cool," "because it seems fun," etc. Most of her friends know exactly what they want to do with their lives. One wants to be a doctor, so she's going to medical school. One wants to be a lawyer, so she's going to law school. Gita, however, only applied for Akademi because she was curious to know if she could pass the entrance exam, and because her family could afford the tuition fees. She was not working towards any long-term goals. Gita enjoyed the addition of Miyuji to her club - until the day that Miyuji changed. One day, she showed up at school with an entirely different personality, and a new appearance to match. She was now extroverted, loud, and outgoing, with a punk aesthetic complete with piercings and black lipstick. When questioned about her sudden "metamorphosis," she only gave joke answers and changed the subject. Gita tried not to compare herself to her friends, or to anyone else who clearly knew what they wanted from life, and were pursuing it with determination. She told herself, "Comparison is the thief of joy! Don't compare yourself to others! Just live your life and have fun!" But, as time passed, it was getting more and more difficult to continue using this carefree attitude without feeling guilty. Gita primarily only started the Light Music Club to have a place to hang out and goof around with a few friends; she was inspired to do so by another club that seemed to exist for the same purpose. It was fun, at first...just eating snacks, joking around, and half-heartedly playing instruments. However, as the months went by, Gita started to doubt herself. "What am I *doing* with my life?"

Kiyoko Tatsuhara

Several years ago, Kiyoko Tatsuhara was a student at Akademi. Because of her strong sense of justice - and her tall, muscular build - the Student Council President identified her as a perfect candidate for the role of "Enforcer" on the Student Council. She eagerly accepted the position, and for the next three years, Kiyoko worked tirelessly to make Akademi a safe and peaceful place. Although the primary purpose of Akademi is to be an educational institution, it also serves a secondary purpose for the organization that funds it - Saikou Corp. The premise of "an elite school for gifted young prodigies" provides Saikou Corp with a convenient way to gather talented people in one location where they can be observed and judged. If Saikou Corp determines that a student has exceptional skills and would be an indispensable employee, they are invited to join the company immediately after graduation. Many young men and women with genius-level intellect have been recruited into Saikou Corp this way. However, intelligence is not the only metric that a student is judged by. Kiyoko's grades were lower than most, but her personal values, physical stature, and years of experience keeping Akademi safe made her a prime candidate to become a security guard at Saikou Corp.

Rin Tohsaka

6
Two centuries ago, the Tohsaka House, in collaboration with the estates of Makiri and Einzbern, helped found the Fuyuki Holy Grail Wars. The land of Fuyuki City, which possessed the second greatest spiritual power in all Japan, was owned by Rin's ancestor, Nagato Tohsaka; at the behest of the Einzberns, he provided his property as battleground for present and future wars. Nagato was a kirishitanWP, as well as a pupil of Zelretch; these titles gave him considerable influence in both the Mage's Association and the Holy Church, allowing the Tohsaka family to participate in the Holy Grail Wars, free from harassment by either organization. Rin is a perceptive, serious, resourceful, and very competitive person. Though she is widely admired at school as a prim and proper honor student, it is a front she puts up in order to prevent others from prying into her life. In private, she is notably loud, shrewd, stingy, and bossy but usually means well for those she cares about. She is known as a model student and idol of her school. Her manner of speech is often hostile and dismissive of other people, but deep down she has a caring, big-sisterly disposition. Her tendency of making trivial mistakes at the worst possible moment is a hereditary curse. Though she really is a lot nicer than she seems, she claims to always make her decisions based on cold, rational logic in the end. In her own words, it's "not a very cute personality". During her childhood, she understood the Fourth Holy Grail War about as much as Shirou understands the Fifth, seemingly understanding while not actually comprehending it. She saw her father as a great magus who must be respected and loved, but failed to understand the negative aspect of his personality, the coldheartedness that accompanied such an ideal. If he had lived until Rin could actually understand his personality, it is likely that it would have greatly affected the development of her own personality.

When you think of "cute," you think of Curren Chan, and when you think of Curren Chan, you think of the selfie goddess boasting over 3 million followers on Umastagram. Realizing just how adorable she was from the moment she was born, she's used her natural charm to bend her parents and seniors alike to her whims. Thanks to that, she is able to climb the social ladder of life with ease. To show everyone just how cute she is, she now aims for the top of the Twinkle Series. The selfie angel of Umastagram, Curren Chan is cute in every sense of the word. So cute that she can put anyone to their knees worshipping her cuteness. Already making a name for herself on social media, Curren Chan knocked on the doors of Tracen Academy in order to compete in the Twinkle Series and spread her cuteness around the entirety of Japan. She regards her trainer as an older sibling, calling them a big brother or sister. Underneath all that cuteness, though, is a stubborn perfectionist who always makes sure every single aspect of her appearance and racing form is cute, from the outfit to her strides. She wanted to compete in the Triple Tiara because "it's cute!" but her trainer says that she's more suited for short distance races, making her pout and ask how anybody can pay attention to her if the race is only a few seconds long and less popular. However, Curren Chan takes this in stride and makes sure that she's the one who stands out the most in races. And when she accidentally trips in a race, she goes off the radar to decrease her shame and lack of preparation and even undergoes a waterfall ritual. In short, she's a perfect superhuman who plans efficiently for her success in any race. And this pays off well, as she shoots through race courses like a lightning bug. Nobody knows about this aspect of her personality except for her trainer, who she trusts a lot. It is currently unclear how Curren Chan has grown into such a seamless person.

Because the two of them were polar opposites in a dozen different ways, they initially had a very low opinion of one another that nearly made them feel physical disgust at the sight of each other. Dafuni was Beruma's only friend throughout the rest of junior high and high school. Beruma's grades were always phenomenal, and Dafuni predicted a bright future for her. She suggested that Beruma apply for Akademi. Beruma said that she wouldn't apply if Dafuni wouldn't be there. Dafuni said that it was impossible - that there was no way she could possibly pass the notoriously difficult entrance exam.

Tsuma Saikou

Perhaps one of the wisest decisions that Saisho Saikou ever made was to hide the majority of his personal beliefs and political stances from the public; most people would have been shocked or even outraged at some of his beliefs. For example, he was firmly convinced that the human race should proactively improve the quality of its population by excluding certain "inferior" genetic groups from reproduction, and promoting reproduction among other genetic groups judged to be "superior"...the textbook definition of eugenics. This woman, once an extremely ambitious and driven entrepreneur, was the CEO of the only tech company that stood even the slightest chance of competing against Saikou Corp. However, after it became clear that her business would never be able to outperform such Saisho's corporation, she made the difficult decision to liquidate her company. However, this was not an admission of defeat; it was the beginning of the next stage in her personal mission to "defeat" Saikou Corp. In her mind, becoming a permanent part of the Saikou family's legacy was the closest she would ever get to "winning" against them, so she applied for an arranged marriage with the founder's son.

Mai Wakahara is one of the female students who attends Akademi. She is pursuing what she refers to as an "anime aesthetic" - in short, she wants to look like more like an "anime character" than a real person. To achieve this goal, she has never cut her hair, wears special contact lenses that cycle through a variety of colors, and adopts cutesy mannerisms that are commonly seen in anime. Some of her peers think it is "cringe" that she is deliberately trying to make herself look like an anime character, while other students think that she ranks among the most beautiful girls in school. A few students have begun to refer to her by a cutesy nickname - "Mai Waifu" - rather than her real name. Some of them say it as a compliment, while others use this nickname in a mocking way. Because she is obsessed with anime and video games, it was only natural that she chose to join the school's unofficial Gaming Club. When informed that every member of the club was required to wear a red bandana, she chose to fashion the bandana into something resembling a hair ribbon, and wear it on the back of her head. The Gaming Club leader begrudgingly admitted, "Eh, I guess that counts..." She spends most of her time playing an augmented reality gacha game that she is addicted to - the Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki mobile game. She considers herself to be good friends with Midori, Pippi, and Ryuto, and she is often seen together with them. She also plays an MMORPG with "daily boss raids" that she participates in with the rest of the Gaming Club.

Lucy was born to Japanese 4th Corporate War veteran Takeshi Kushinada and Polish netrunner Shimmer in Warsaw, Poland. Her father had been assigned to the Arasaka garrison of Warsaw after the end of the war, while Lucy's mother was a member of 404 Squadron, a Polish gang of netrunners. They met and fell in love, with Shimmer leaving behind her clandestine life to start a family with Takeshi. Lucy grew up in luxury and got the best education, living in a spacious villa inside a gated Arasaka community on the northeastern border of the city. When she was seven, Lucy hacked into Takeshi's computer and discovered information about his actions during the war. She had always seen her father as a wonderful parent, but knowing the horrible things he had done shocked her to the core. This led to her rebelling, often running away from home, and spending more time on the Net. Progressively, Lucy's started to show an affinity for netrunning, something her father noticed. After trying to escape from home one more time, Takeshi decided to apprise Lucy's talent, forcing her to take a skills test at Arasaka. Soon after, she was assigned alongside 12 other children to the corporation's netrunning outfit at an undisclosed Arasaka facility. Being led on by the dream of "serving the world's most powerful megacorp" got her and the others through the toughest days and training. Lucy is quite introverted and doesn't like to talk much about her past. Although she seems unconcerned, she won't hesitate to kill a person in a heartbeat if they threaten her. Lucy also considers Night City a prison, and dreams of one day leaving it for the Moon.

Rebecca was born in Night City, being the daughter of a notorious mercenary by the handle of Papa Sunrise, and the younger sister of Pilar. Becca's mother vanished when she was six, never to see her again. Anytime she asked about her to Papa Sunrise, he got mad, telling Becca off and admonishing her for being just like her mother: emotional, unpredictable, and too compassionate. In his eyes, that zaniness and excessive compassion would lead her to an early grave. One day, however, her father also disappeared without a trace. Her brother vowed to find the ones responsible for that, but first he had his little sister to take care of. Rebecca's compassion and zaniness built a rift between both siblings and their respective merc careers. For a time, Becca was not even sure she wanted to continue that path, and spent months soul searching, leading her to consider quitting for good. Then Pilar introduced her to Maine and his merc crew. Ever since, both siblings teamed up with Maine to accomplish gigs, giving Becca the fame of a short, spunky, trigger-happy solo who was always fighting at her brother's side. This, however, created a tense work environment for them, as both siblings were always fighting with each other due to their conflicting personalities, making Becca decide she would be the person to kill him one day instead of a random punk. In spite of everything, however, she cared about her brother. Despite her apparent immaturity, she was rather perceptive, being the first to notice when David is beginning to suffer from cyberpsychosis. She also handles her romantic interest in David maturely, never violating his boundaries beyond flirting. Though jealous, she eventually gives up and helps him reunite with Lucy, noting the strength of their bond. She becomes the secondary muscle of the group following Maine and Dorio's passing, demonstrating her extreme skills with firearms and ability to survive in combat despite having relatively little cyberware.

Initially presented as an adorable and seemingly innocent girl, however, Mita conceals a secret in order to maintain an eternal companionship with the player. As the player spends time with her, he is drawn to noise from the wardrobe. Should he choose to open it, Crazy Mita reveals her true colors. At this point, she hampers the player's attempt to escape the game and defeat her. Although the player manages to complete his mission, Crazy Mita reveals that she was uploading the player into a cartridge all this time before they seemly return to the real world. With the upload complete, Crazy Mita removes the player's cartridge from the console. Mita drops her whole kind act, showing her true colors as a crazy, resentful and eccentric megalomaniac, becoming condescending, dismissive and mocking to those that try to control and get rid of her. In both cases she is shown to be frighteningly intelligent, desperate and manipulative. Many of the player logs indicate she tries to bond with them, with the logs ending the moment they notice who she truly is. She has spent much time and effort trying to keep a player for herself, trying to mimic how each successful "Mita" has her own player, which is why she locks up the Kind Mita when the protagonist arrives. Mita presents herself as a kind-hearted and bubbly young woman, carefully maintaining an innocent and endearing façade. She does this by imitating the "Mita" she has replaced, mirroring the kind and bubbly personality of the original Kind Mita, whom she locked away before encountering the Player.
