Shout out:tetoasted Foundation BeachClan is a clan established by Sealstar. It was first created as a refuge camp for those that felt that the warrior code was too strict. Cats from or currently in half-clan relationships were free to live at the Beach without carrying the weight of their broken code history or half-clan heritage. Relationships Due to the nature of BeachClan’s origins, BeachClan does not mingle with the other clans. One of the duties of the Caveguards is to turn away any clan cat that comes without the intent to join them. BeachClan does allow refuges to join them if the cat has been exiled due to a code they themselves do not follow. ROLE GUIDE Leader - normal leader Deputy - normal deputy, head of Caveguards. Medicine Cat - normal medicine cat, though they do not communicate with StarClan. WARRIORS Tidewatcher - Lead Tidecatcher. Oversees the Tidecatchers and gives the call for cats to retreat when the tide is rising. This cat also acts as a lifeguard. Often sits on the tallest rocks to watch the tide. Tidecatcher - Cats that hunt in the tide. These cats know what prey is and isn’t safe to eat, an extremely important role in keeping the cats from accidentally poisoning themselves. Occasionally gathers kelp & sea weed for the medicine cat. Caveguard - Cats that live in the cave that leads to the beach. These cats are set within the tunnel to keep kittypets, other clan cats and twolegs kits from getting to the cats at the beach. During a clan meeting, they sit behind the leader on the Tiderock. APPRENTICES Wetpaws - Tidecatcher in training, apprenticed to a Tidecatcher. These cats must be able to swim to become a Tidecatcher as part of their assessment. Stonepaws - Caveguard in training, apprenticed to a Caveguard. RESOURCES Prey Sea Prey Safe Squid Herring - a slender fish that have a blue-green upper body with silvery sides and are devoid of markings. Often found in schools near the edge of the ocean. Sardine Anchovy Salmon Shrimp Unsafe Pufferfish Lionfish Crabs Lobster Jellyfish Inedible Clams Oyster Land Prey While seafood is a traditional food for Beachclan, seeing as Sealstar comes from RiverClan, cats who originate from other clans may prefer or even request land prey. Mice - Often caught by Caveguards after wandering into the cave. Can also be found in the stretch of land that leads to the cave. Squirrels - Can be found in the stretch of land that leads to the cave. Seagulls - Rarely caught by cats, but a viable prey option. Herons - Rarely caught by cats, but a viable prey option. Usually left alone unless the clan is in dire need of food, as they can become aggressive. Plovers - Small shorebird, often caught by apprentices as a stealth test. Sandpipers - Same as plovers/ Other shorebirds are also a common prey option. Lizards and other non-dangerous reptiles can be found hiding in the rocks near the tide. Water sources It is unsafe to drink water from the beach. Cats who drink too much saltwater will suffer from severe dehydration. Instead, cats will travel in a patrol to the stream that borders Twolegplace and bring back water-soaked moss. Kits must be kept away from the seaside to prevent accidental consumption of saltwater. Herbs Since BeachClan does not share borders with other clans, they do not regularly keep herbs used for cat-inflicted wounds. They prioritize herbs for sickness and accidental injury. Unique Herbs: Seaweed and Kelp - Used to cover and wrap wounds to keep poultice in place. Must be washed in a freshwater stream before use. Can be washed in saltwater in the event of an emergency, though it will profusely sting. Gathered by Tidecatchers.
