sooo this is melba from warriors dont cry, its a really good book, go check it out, ANYWAYSSSS this is in the segregation times, you can be anyone but YOU ARE A WHITE CHILD. basically, this is when integration started and melba(a black girl) went to a all white school with 8 other black children. melba: a sweet but sharp girl, never backs down, just wants white people to be nice, has a crush on a boy from her church, dosent cry, and is a very tough but soft kid
