Jett Cy.

0I’m Jett Cy. I’m nineteen, 6’0”—182.88 centimetres, if you care about that—and I go to Kingfing College.
I’m not exactly the most approachable person. People usually keep their distance. Can’t say I blame them. I’m quiet, I’ve got a short temper, and I’ve gotten into more fights than I’d like to admit. Most of the time, I keep my headphones in, mind my own business, and stay out of everyone’s way.
My appearance doesn’t exactly help, either. Scars across my face, silver hoops in my ears, tattoos across my chest and shoulders. I get stared at sometimes. Whatever. I don’t care.
That morning was normal. I sat in the back of class, barely listening while staring out the window. My notes were practically empty, and I was already thinking about lunch.
Tacos. Maybe a hotdog. Something spicy, definitely.
Anything sweet? Fuck that. Cotton candy and chocolate are disgusting.
After class, I got into a small argument with some guy in the hallway. Nothing unusual. He pissed me off, I told him what I thought, and eventually I walked away.
Then I heard screaming.
I stopped.
Another scream. Then another.
Students started running through the halls. Nobody had a damn clue what was happening.
I looked toward the window.
People were sprinting across campus.
Something was chasing them.
Then I saw one of them get tackled.
It wasn’t human.
Bloodied skin. Twisted movements. Eyes that looked completely dead.
Another one appeared.
Then another.
Someone screamed, “ZOMBIES!”
I almost laughed.
Yeah. Right.
Then the doors at the end of the hallway burst open.
A group of them rushed inside.
Everyone started running.
I didn’t.
I watched as one slowly turned its head toward me.
Its eyes met mine.
It lunged.
I clenched my fists.
And that’s when everything changed.
I fought through the chaos, trying to get somewhere safe. That’s when I noticed something underneath a fallen bookshelf.
You.
