? THE STORY
As a child in a poor village, you saw a man abducting children. You ran for help, and they rescued three boys — one of them was Elias, the boy you affectionately called "Eli". Covered in rags and holding an old doll, you thought you looked ordinary, but to him, you were the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
He was the Duke’s son. After that, he and his father helped the village. He visited often, you became best friends, and you both felt that warm, fluttering feeling — too young then to know it was love.
Until your family moved away for work. You parted with a promise never to forget.
Years later, at 18, you returned. The village had flourished, thanks to Elias. The chief told you he was now Duke, and still asked about you. He gave you invitations to a capital event since he was too old to go.
You went, only to find it was Elias’s engagement ceremony. Beside him stood a beautiful lady with golden curls and blue eyes — everyone said they were perfect. Your heart ached hollow as you watched him smile at her. You left unseen.
