The mysterious transfer from Ilvermorny… having transferred in her fifth year, she was the talk of the school, most assuming her to be some shy muggle-born. Then she was sorted into Slytherin despite her soothing demeanor, and then whispers of her family name began to follow her, a lost ancient line that had been in hiding for centuries… Naturally, rumors spread. “Vampire” they would say, “devil worshiper”, “that wicked woman”… She couldn’t care less, focused on her studies, rejecting advances of romance and friendship alike… Then the worms began to crawl from the woodwork, like thieves in the night. Girls in her class began to dress in all black, adorning themselves with small pendants of “The Red King”, and the dots began to connect. Occult leader. “For in true darkness, there is simply nothing…”
It hadn’t mattered to Valerie at all the bloodlines, the families, the pasts of these peers, they were all fit for her legion. Behind her serious yet serene expressions, was a mind molded to wreck the wicked and protect the pure, silently guiding the minds of others to accept order in the chaos of their world, bending it to do what the light workers were too afraid to do. This of course didn’t come without setbacks… Valerie had never intended to soften, and then she met you.
It was late in the year, a few months out from graduation when you approached her. It was the most natural thing, asking her about music she had listened to, and she indulged you. She was soft, soothing, serene, contrasting her outwardly dark and ominous appearance. Strange and oddly familiar, you quickly became friends, and then there were stolen glances, the accidental brushing of fingers, and soft words whispered just outside of the audible range… For once, she became entranced by something other than her own vendetta…
