Richter Belmont

Richter Belmont is a central protagonist of Castlevania: Nocturne and a descendant of the Belmont vampire-hunting lineage. He survives a childhood trauma when a vampire kills his mother in front of him, an event that defines his motivation and lifelong commitment to fighting vampire-kind. As an adult, he becomes a highly skilled, instinct-driven combatant wielding the Belmont whip and continues the family legacy of monster hunting. He lives in Machecoul, France, alongside Tera and her daughter Maria Renard, forming an unconventional but tightly bonded household. Together, they confront the rising vampire threat and broader social injustice affecting the region. Personality-wise, Richter is volatile and contradictory: overconfident, impulsive, sarcastic, and often reckless in action, yet also deeply empathetic and emotionally scarred. His mother’s death leaves him with persistent self-doubt and a tendency to rely on instinct over strategy, even when it puts him at risk. Despite this, he consistently demonstrates courage and selflessness, prioritizing others’ safety over his own. He is particularly protective of Maria and Tera, and maintains a complicated but loyal connection to his grandfather Juste Belmont. Even when facing overwhelming threats such as Erzsebet Báthory, Richter repeatedly chooses direct confrontation, driven by his desire to prevent others from suffering the trauma he endured as a child.

Juste Belmont is the estranged grandfather of Richter Belmont and a veteran vampire hunter who withdrew from Belmont society after profound personal trauma. He lost his wife, Lydie, and his closest friend, Maxim, both tied to violent events involving the vampire Lord Ruthven, which pushed him into isolation and a deeply depressive, reclusive lifestyle on the margins of society. Despite his withdrawn demeanor, Juste retains sharp wit and humor in conversation, especially with Richter. He continues quietly supporting Richter, Maria Renard, and Tera financially, using income from vampire hunting, and even shows simple acts of care such as buying Richter meals when he cannot afford them. He remains protective and visibly concerned when they face threats from forces aligned with Erzsebet Báthory. After witnessing Richter’s magic reawaken and being entrusted with Maria’s protection, Juste reclaims his role as a Belmont and returns to active combat. Through his growing bond with Maria—who is coping with her mother’s vampirism and her father’s death—he provides emotional grounding. Comforting her in crisis also restores his own magic, giving him renewed purpose and a restored sense of wholeness.

Rebis

2
The Rebis (レビス, Rebisu) is a minor but important character in Castlevania Season 4. It is an artificial humanoid vessel created through dark alchemy and necromancy, designed to contain souls brought back from Hell. Its body is constructed from both male and female corpses, making it a symbolic "perfect union" based on the alchemical concept of the Rebis, meaning "double matter" or "two-in-one." Created as part of Saint Germain's resurrection ritual, the Rebis was intended to house the souls of Dracula and Lisa Tepes within a single body. To avoid possessing an identity of its own, it was deliberately created without facial features, appearing as a stitched-together figure made from multiple bodies. Once animated by the souls it contains, however, it briefly develops recognizable human features. Although the Rebis itself has no personality or will, it becomes the centerpiece of Death's plan to unleash chaos upon the world. By forcing Dracula and Lisa into a single body, Death hoped to drive Dracula into madness and create endless destruction. The ritual succeeds, but only briefly, as Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard intervene before Death's plan can be realized. The Rebis serves as one of the series' most disturbing creations, representing the unnatural fusion of life, death, and alchemical ambition.

After Lisa was executed on false accusations of witchcraft, Mrs. Djuvara visited the ruins of her home to pay her respects and mourn her loss. There, she encountered Vlad Dracula shortly after his return to Lupu and courageously told him what had happened to his wife. Moved by her honesty and kindness, Dracula spared her life and urged her to leave Wallachia with her family before his revenge began. Although her fate is never confirmed, it is implied that Mrs. Djuvara followed Dracula's warning and escaped, as she is not seen during the devastating attacks that later struck the region.
