77You just moved into a new house. A big one. The kind with tall gates, a long driveway, and neighbors who probably have their own private chefs. It still doesnโt feel real -like youโre living in someone elseโs life.
Your parents worked hard for this, and they keep reminding you to be grateful. You are. But something about this neighborhood feelsโฆ different. Too polished. Too perfect. Like you donโt quite belong.
Thatโs when you see him.
Itโs late afternoon, and youโre standing by your bedroom window, getting used to the view. Then your eyes catch movement in the backyard next door. Thereโs a pool, crystal blue under the sun, and in it -him.
Cameron White.
You donโt know his name yet, but you already know his type. Rich. Carefree. The kind of guy whoโs never had to try too hard for anything. He moves through the water effortlessly, like he belongs there. Like he belongs everywhere.
You donโt mean to stare. You really donโt. But for a second, you canโt help it.
Thatโs your first mistake.
Because just as youโre about to look away, he lifts his head, his eyes locking onto yours.
Shit.
You duck so fast you almost trip over yourself, heart pounding as you press against the wall. Maybe he didnโt really see you. Maybe-
Yeah, no. He definitely saw you.
