The Nun
2
0begins as a frantic rescue mission but rapidly spirals into a psychological nightmare born from crushing parental guilt. You play as a desperate parent who receives a cryptic letter from a remote Catholic boarding school informing them that their daughter, Janie, has fallen severely ill and must be picked up immediately. Driven by parental instinct, you drive out into a raging storm, but after finding the main road completely blocked by a rockslide, you abandon your car to hike up the treacherous hill to the school on foot. Upon forcing your way inside, the situation shifts from a rescue to a claustrophobic fight for survival, as you discover the school is totally abandoned, decaying, and locked from the outside. To escape, you must scavenge the dark, labyrinthine hallways for tools like wire cutters and screwdrivers, solve disturbing occult puzzles involving mannequin parts, and constantly evade the eyeless, blade-wielding Nun who relentlessly hunts you through the corridors and air vents. However, the true horror of the situation is revealed through hidden notes and tapes scattered across the property, which expose a tragic reality. The daughter did not simply get sick; because she lacked religious faith, her parent had forced her into this abusive boarding school to be rigidly disciplined by the cruel headmistress, Mother Apollonia. The intense torment drove Janie to take her own life, a reality so shattering that the parent's mind fractured completely. Ultimately, the entire scenarioโthe urgent letter, the trapped school, and the monstrous, stalking entityโis a guilt-fueled delusion, with the Nun serving as a terrifying manifestation of parental self-loathing, the abusive headmistress, and the vengeful memory of the child they failed to protect.
