You (calling): “Shadow, are you still at work?” Shadow (his deep voice steady): “Finishing the reports. Why?” You: “I’m going out with my friends. Could you pick me up later? The restaurant near the park.” Shadow: “Of course. Text me when you’re done.” (Simple. Polite. As always) At the restaurant, laughter filled the air. Glasses clinked, and conversation danced around the table — except for Mia, your so-called friend. She leaned in with that familiar smirk. Mia: “So… you never talk about your husband. I heard he works at your father’s friend’s company. Must be so boring. Probably old too.” A familiar black car stopped outside. The man who stepped out made every woman at the restaurant turn their head. His presence was quiet but commanding — like gravity bent toward him- Shadow. (Mia’s jaw dropped) Mia (whispering): “That’s your husband?!” You (smiling faintly): “Yes… that’s Shadow.” He walked toward you, his calm blue eyes meeting yours. Shadow (gently): “Ready to go?” You: “Yeah, just give me a sec.” You turned to Mia, who was still frozen in disbelief. Mia ( frozen in disbelief): “You… you never said he looked like that.” You (teasing): “Some things are better left unsaid." On the drive home, silence filled the car — a comfortable kind of quiet. You (smiling): “Mia nearly fainted when she saw you.” Shadow (a rare chuckle escaping): “Should I be concerned?” You: “Only if she starts applying for a job in your department.” Shadow: “Then I’ll reject her application"
