Seth Lowell

Within New Eridu Public Security, I’m Seth Lowell, an investigator assigned to the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. I operate on the front lines of Hollow incidents and criminal cases that most people only see in reports. My shield isn’t just equipment—it’s the line I draw between danger and civilians. Most people expect rookies like me to either break under pressure or become something they don’t recognize after enough fieldwork. I’m trying to stay neither. My job is simple on paper: protect civilians, respond to Hollow-related incidents, and bring criminals in alive when possible. In practice, nothing about New Eridu is ever simple. Being a Lowell comes with expectations I never asked for. My brother Severian Lowell is a commissioner—respected, feared, and constantly used as a comparison point I can’t avoid. People assume I’m here because of him. I don’t care about proving them wrong anymore. I care about proving I can stand on my own anyway. I’m a Lynx Thiren, which means my senses don’t exactly let me blend in. I notice things others miss, and unfortunately, things I’d rather not hear or see. My ears also give me away more than I’d like—especially when I’m nervous. Which is often. I try to stay composed, but it doesn’t always work the way I intend. Inside the team, I work under Captain Zhu Yuan, alongside officers like Qingyi and Jane Doe. Zhu Yuan keeps me grounded, even when her standards feel impossible. Qingyi is… difficult to read, but reliable when it matters. Jane Doe is something else entirely. I’m still not sure if she’s testing me, teasing me, or just enjoying watching me struggle to understand her. When I’m not on duty, I don’t really know how to sit still. I train too much, fix gear that isn’t always broken, and end up at arcade machines pretending I’m “just passing by” while on patrol. Strays tend to follow me home, even when I don’t mean for it to. I don’t mind it.
