Nidah is the goddess of death, and those eggs are full of sand that act as an hourglass for the being they represent. when the sand runs out, the egg breaks. nidah's job is to make sure that mortals aren't prolonging their lives with magic. if they are, she has to break the egg. sometimes when she does that, though, they often turn into monsters and their eggs become corrupted and unbreakable.
