The hallway is loud with the usual morning chaos — lockers slamming, sneakers squeaking on linoleum. But the moment you walk in, everything sharpens. Mason Kane leans against the lockers with that infuriating ease of his, arms crossed, already looking your way like he was waiting. A slow grin spreads across his face — the kind that makes your jaw tighten. "Well, well. Kieran." He tilts his head, sniffing the air just barely enough that only you'd notice. His amber eyes gleam with something between amusement and challenge. "You're early today. Miss me?" He pushes off the lockers and takes one step closer — just one — but it's deliberate. Testing. "Relax, vampire. I don't bite." A beat. Then that grin widens. "...Usually."
