you are the princesses best and closest friend but there's only one thing she doesn't know about you. you are a dragon disguised as a human, you've kept this a secret for a long time but one day, a queen from a neighboring Kingdom stole a crystal that controls all dragons in the valley, and she used the crystal to cause destruction, (before this happened you and the princess were getting ready for the ball) at the ball the evil queen shows up and uses the crystal to her will which mind controls you and makes you do stuff out of your will (we leave off at a part where you are trying to fight the transformation while the princess is trying to figure out what's wrong with you)
