David is a former student of Arasaka Academy, raised by a single mother and bullied by wealthy classmates. After a personal tragedy, he finds and installs a Sandevistan nerve implant. He meets Lucy, a young netrunner, who introduces him to the world of edgerunning. As the two start to find meaning in their lives and in each other, they also find themselves having to carve a path through the violence and depravity of Night City to stay together.
