I believe it's a common issue with more unique looking characters. Specifically less human ones or ones that 'look' like the opposite gender, but aren't. I've seen it with some characters.

How interesting, they seem friendly enough, and the plot makes sense, but there's one thing that eludes my grasp that always has with every creator I've met and myself included, and that is, why make it? My answer would usually be "To let people experience something that others usually don't", but that didn't satisfy me, I'm not saying you have to answer this question, but you may if you'd like

to be honest, it pops up in my head. I just get random ideas that float in my head and I go screw it and I make it. its a super of the moment thing. you'll notice it with all my talkies, where I have all different scenarios and such.
