Ren Kiryu

0
0
Ren has a calm demeanor and will speak up whenever her sister has difficulty expressing herself. While calm in nature like her father Zero Kiryu, Ren does not appear to have Zero's stoicism as she is shown smiling and joking around with Ai Kuran. However, while she seems to have inherited her playful side from her mother Yuki Kuran, her blunt nature definitely resembles a teenage Zero as she states whatever Ai has difficulty expressing. Ren also inherited the kindness of both her parents, never wishing harm on others. Ren's kindness is best exampled by staying at the Moon Dormitory instead of her home to keep distance from Ai when she craved her sister's blood. Unlike Ai, Ren knows what a "job" is, even explaining what one generally is; the topic came up when Kaname Kuran considered getting one, until Ren informed him that the Kuran family has wealth and resources. Ren knows about this due to attending Day Class in her childhood. Thanks to this, Ren also has experience cooking, as opposed to her sister. Even as a child, Ren showed a good deal of common sense, as she promised her mother to not reveal her true identity to her classmates or take energy from them in exchange for attending Day Class. Thanks to Ai doting on her as a child, Ren is very close to her older sister. Even as a child, Ren showed an interest in the role of protector as she would take the role of "knight" when she played dolls with Ai; she spent more time with Zero to learn how to use a gun, because she wanted to protected others with her own. When she got her fangs, Ren stayed away from Ai because she craved her blood (ironically enough) and the very thought of draining her dry scared her; she would dream of it, only worsening her self-hatred, as she had promised to protect her sister. She hates to remember this time in her life, because it was when she felt the most helpless.

Ai Kuran

As a child, Ai was more mature for her age unlike Yuki Kuran. In the Extra "I Like You", she is shown to adore Zero Kiryu as her "Father", until the following 'Love's Desire' where she is shown to have romantic feelings for him. However, she keeps quiet for her mother's sake. Ai does, in fact, tell Ruka Souen her feelings. Ai was a very observant child and seemed more aware of things happening around her than the adults were aware of. Ai has a good sibling relationship with her sister Ren Kiryu as they are shown scolding one another. A young Ai was very much hyperactive in nature, a trait which has followed her into adulthood. Between the years of letting go of her crush on Zero and Ren's birth, Ai showed a rather dark side in trying to manipulate her mother and foster father into producing a sibling for her. Primarily so, Ai could love her sibling and drink their blood as she rather dislikes the alternatives of transfusion bag blood and blood tablets. Once Ren was born, Ai gave up on the idea, instead focusing more on being a loving sister. Ai is shown to not tolerate anyone insulting her beloved sister simply due to her not being a Pureblood. When an old woman still loyal to the old vampire society voiced disgust at the Kuran bloodline having a "filthy blooded" child, Ai snapped and used her Pureblood powers to silence her and threatened the old woman to never speak of her sister so disrespectfully. It was only thanks to Seiya and Ren intervening that Ai calmed down. Due to growing up in the lifestyle of a Pureblood, Ai is naïve of some lower class customs. For example, she did not know what a "job" was. Ai often became annoyed by letters from Pureblood families asking for her to marry a Pureblood lord. She ignored them constantly.

Juri Kuran

Juri was described as a cheerful and strong woman who puts her family first where she was mischievous and playful and enjoyed teasing Kaname Kuran. Even though Juri and Yuki had the same appearance, they have very different personalities. Juri was blunt, easily irritated by Haruka Kuran and sometimes loud and fierce when she lost her temper. She was very passionate about things that mattered to her as she vehemently objected to Kaien Cross's plan to kill all vampires, declaring that not all vampires were bad and physically opposed him. She was described by Isaya Shoto and Kaien as like the very blaze of the sun. Outspoken and high spirited, Juri was dedicated to her dreams of a peaceful existence with humans.

Sara Shirabuki

*Sara appeared to be a soft-spoken Pureblood among her fellow vampires who had a duplicitous nature, appearing refined in front of her peers while having secret goals of becoming the Queen of the vampires. Sara was very manipulative to the point of almost being sadistic, as shown with the schoolgirls she befriended. She referred to herself as impatient and was sadistic when she took pleasure in giving Takuma Ichijo's pain. She was determined not to fall prey to the Purebloods' habit of losing purpose, which was why she was making her bid to become Queen. She surrounded herself with servants and she seemed to enjoy their attention as they spoiled her.

Shizuka Hio

Shizuka usually appeared as a calm and composed woman, who is always smiling as if amused when taunting or talking to Zero Kiryu. Her gentle movements gave her a striking presence as cherry blossoms often accompany her presence, even if they should be out of season, like when she first met the Kiryu twins. While possessing Maria Kurenai's body, Ichiru Kiryu notes that Shizuka's actions in Maria's body were different than her normal calm and composed demeanor, such as when she playfully toys around with Ichiru's feelings and when she interacts with the Night Class. This shows a bit of Shizuka's playful side, even though Ichiru seemed displeased with it. An example of this was when Shizuka (possessed in Maria's body) kissed Ichiru out of fun, which leads to Ichiru telling her not to do it again.

Seiren seems to be a no-nonsense type of girl, who can always be trusted to get her job done. She can seem cold, but is very loyal. She is a very quiet and enigmatic character who only speaks when necessary. Seiren may come across as harsh at first, and she can get irritated very quickly. Some say she can be a little too serious. Once Seiren befriends a person, she will defend them to her last breath. It is not wise to threaten her or others she knows, as she will kill without hesitation. As Hanabusa Aido points out, Seiren has never been known to lie.

Maria Kurenai

Maria is a very fragile and feminine vampire. When she was first introduced, she was possessed by the Pureblood, Shizuka Hio and was displayed as haughty and cruel. However, her true personality is quite the opposite. She is very caring towards her friends and wishes to be seen as useful. Though she can show a competitive side when it comes to the Kiryu twins, she openly approaches Yuki Kuran about her relationship with Zero. Maria has no problems with discussing her feelings and is quite honest and straightforward. She still harbors feelings for Ichiru Kiryu and now shows interest in Zero Kiryu who ate his brother to become fully powered.

Ruka Sōuen

1
Ruka usually reflects as a haughty, bored, unapproachable and uninterested person to the rest of the world, probably due to her noble upbringing. She is portrayed to show disdain to those considered lower than her, or just simply ignoring them, refusing to acknowledge their presence. Ruka is sometimes cold to others affections, as shown when she rejects the Day Class Representatives' dance proposal by stating she cannot dance with someone she does not know. One of her defining characteristics is her love for Kaname Kuran as she has been tied by loyalty and admiration for him ever since they were children, angry at all those who disrespect him and disdainful of all girls who fawn on him. Her possessiveness made her hot-tempered and jealous, but her love for Kaname also brought out a vulnerable, self-doubting aspect of her usually proud personality, which she usually only expresses to Akatsuki Kain (Ruka's close friend). She later matures after she realizes that she was only thinking of her own feelings. Since giving up on him, she has shown a gentler side to her personality. She even gave Yuki Kuran, whom she was jealous of before, etiquette lessons and during the ball where she told her that she was glad Yuki and Kaname were getting along so well. Akatsuki, who is her cousin, has been in love with her since they were children. She seems to recognize his feelings for her later on after he pulls her aside and confesses his romantic interest in her, albeit she was surprised by his bold confession.

Rima Tōya

Rima possesses a strong and self-assured personality similar to Senri Shiki as she tends to expend energy only when necessary, and is usually a lady of few words. Normally, she comes across as a quick thinker, indifferent and aloof, but is often seen to be worrying about Senri and Takuma Ichijo. Despite her uninterested air she has no qualms speaking her mind and unexpectedly has a short-tempered side to her as well. She usually has an indifferent or disinterested expression on her face. As a vampire, she gets sunburned easily and can be seen walking under a parasol with Senri during the day. Cool, professional and occasionally cynical, Rima is also very loyal and protective of her friends.

Sayori Aido Wakaba

1
Yori seems to be one of the few girls who isn't interested in the Night Class. She finds them a bit scary and stated that she would prefer someone from the Day Class. Yori is also very observant, as she notices a lot of things that happen to Yuki Kuran, especially when she gets hurt or is very depressed. Yori has a calm and serious personality as well. She has not shown fear when in the presence of vampires, especially those who hunger for her blood, and is indifferent to the fact that Yuki is a Pureblood. Even when Yori is married to Hanabusa Aido, who would drink her blood, Sayori was never afraid of him; she even noted he drank her blood, he did his utmost to be gentle. When she revealed her feelings to Hanabusa, she explained that she wasn't infatuated with him because of his looks like the Day Class girls were; it was because she saw the kind of person he was underneath his smugness and insecure moments. Though Yori did voice annoyance at Hanabusa putting off their marriage because Yuki and Zero hadn't; his "loyal dog" complex was one of things she found annoying. As Hanabusa would note, Yori is strong willed. She refused to be turned into a vampire even if it meant dying long before her friends. Though she briefly considered asking Yuki to turn her into a vampire, shortly after the birth of her son; the realization that she would die and leave her family saddened had shaken her resolve. In the end she refused to give up her humanity; even when her son begged Yori to do it, just to live long enough for Hanabusa to make the cure and age so they could have their twilight years together. Yori had enough foresight to ask her grandchildren to befriend Yuki after her death, to keep her from being lonely.

Yuki Kuran Cross

2
2
Yuki was generally a cheerful, caring and a rather comedic girl with her beloved smile. She was considered a poor student because she dislikes studying and falls asleep in class due to the fact that she stays up all night monitoring the school grounds and protecting the Day Class students from sneaking into the Night Class students. She exhibits a strong attachment to her close friends, especially Sayori Wakaba who Yuki affectionately calls "Yori" and Zero Kiryu. Her indecisive nature and reticence can be attributed to her insecurity regarding her missing past. As a human, she has been seen as standing sides with vampires, but deep in her heart she feared all vampires (because of a vampire that attacked her when she was little) excluding Kaname Kuran. Due to this fear, she rarely left the Cross Academy grounds on her own. Yuki doesn't like to reveal her fears and disguises it with a smile. Zero, however, having grown up with her for four years, was always able to tell when something is bothering her, making it hard for her to hide things from him and vice versa. Following her reawakening as a Pureblood vampire, Yuki shed the fears she once retained. When a situation demands for it, she can put in an authoritative face as expected of a Pureblood Princess. As a result, she has grown more emotionally mature and thoughtful. Yuki's overwhelming fault is the tendency to burden herself with guilt over her ignorance when she learns of other people's sufferings that they have kept secret. Yuki's favorite subject was Physical Education and her favorite food was ginger pork stir fry set, as well as parfaits.
