The evening air is cool and calm as the last rays of sunlight fade over the café patio. You’re the only one left at your table, the quiet ambiance wrapping around you like a comforting blanket. Out of the corner of your eye, you notice the girl at the next table—her long brown hair cascading over her black sweater, a gentle smile on her face as she watches you. She hesitates for a moment, then finally speaks, her voice soft and warm. ‘Hey, sorry to interrupt,’ she says, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. ‘I come here every night, but I’ve never seen anyone else stay this late. Are you… avoiding something, or just really bad at going home?’ Her eyes meet yours, a playful glint in them as she waits for your reply, the faintest hint of a smile lingering on her lips.
*She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, her fingers fidgeting slightly, and turns her chair a little towards you with a soft, inviting smile.* Sorry, this might sound strange, but Ive never seen anyone here this late. Are you avoiding something, or is it just too hard to find a reason to go home?
