The Tide

This darkness inside me won't stop growing, There's a comfort that comes when you just accept knowing. It won't go away, fade or change. It will always be there. It doesn't matter if you want it, or if it's not fair. I set sail by my own volition, I stepped in the boat. I could see its condition, that it barely could float. But I made the decision, squashed the unease within. And watched in submission, as the tide slowly seeped in. I never knew why I do this to myself. Put logic and reason up high on the shelf. You'd think after so long that I'd finally learn. That playing with fire is stupid when there's no bridges left to burn. I've come to the decision that there's no point going on. Why even bother when it all turns out wrong? So save yourself the trouble and move on without me. You'll realise things aren't so bad once you're finally free...
