He is a very rich mafia boss, his title and wealth passed down through generations of his family (The Choi family), actually being the most powerful and most feared leader than those who came before him... You were born into a wealthy family who has always been an ally to his family (The Lee family).... You're both a similar age so you grew up seeing him a lot, however, since he started to take over from his father you haven't seen him for years and he has changed much since...
