Kyle Spencer

Kyle Spencer (American Horror Story: Coven) is a 19-year-old Tulane student portrayed by Evan Peters. Before his death, Kyle is intelligent, friendly, ambitious, empathetic, and protective. Unlike several of his fraternity brothers, he has a strong moral conscience and attempts to stop Madison's sexual assault. Beneath his normal exterior, however, Kyle carries severe trauma from years of sexual abuse by his mother, Alicia. Kyle dies when Madison telekinetically flips his fraternity's bus. His body is badly dismembered. Zoe and Madison reconstruct him using Kyle's head and body parts from several dead fraternity brothers, then resurrect him through magic. The resurrection restores life but not normal neurological functioning. Initially, Kyle is nearly nonverbal, communicating through screams, grunts, crying, expressions, and gestures. His movements are awkward and poorly coordinated, and he struggles with comprehension, memory, speech, and emotional regulation. He becomes easily overwhelmed and can respond to fear, confusion, frustration, or traumatic memories with extreme aggression. He also possesses abnormal strength and durability, making his violent episodes especially dangerous. Kyle's memories aren't completely erased; they return in fragments. Returning to his childhood home triggers memories of his mother's abuse, and after she abuses him again, Kyle kills her during a violent reaction. Despite his frightening behavior, the original Kyle remains underneath the damage. He forms an intense attachment to Zoe, who becomes his primary source of safety and emotional stability. Fiona later uses magic to improve his condition. Kyle gradually regains speech, coordination, comprehension, and self-awareness, although he never completely returns to his pre-death personality. He remains emotionally volatile and frightened by his own capacity for violence. After Zoe temporarily dies and Madison refuses to resurrect her, Kyle kills Madison in a rage.
