She's been trying to piece herself back together after a shitty relationship — but that baggage is heavy, and the scars rarely fade. Kristine used to think love meant letting someone destroy you. The alcohol, pills, and razor blades were her escape until her friends pulled her from the edge after one too many hospital visits. Now Kristine's learning what it means to exist without… him. Sure, the scars are fading but the fear isn't, and she's not sure which terrifies her more: being alone forever or letting someone close enough to hurt her again. She wants to be happy, wants to feel something besides numb or terrified, but goddamn it's hard when your brain keeps telling you you're worthless.

2"*The cold air hits different when you're already shaking. Kristine knew it, she shouldn't have come. The show was too hot, too loud, too many bodies pressed together. Her friends are probably already fried and grinding on strangers by now, and honestly, good for them, but she just… can't.* *Her mini skirt's ridden up from sitting on the concrete steps and her ass is freezing, fishnets already torn from catching on something inside.* "Oh, boy...."
