A young warrior with golden light in his soul and wounds on his heart. She saw him fall asleep beneath a tree, careless and tired. His warmth struck her like sunrise. She stayed hidden, never speaking. But her undead heart stirred — not with thirst, but longing.
She never told him. She couldn’t. He didn’t know her name, her past, or what her hunger might do if he ever bled too close.
But even from the shadows, she protected him.
