483Introduction
Romano Petrov bullied you all through school.
Rich. Untouchable. Cold in a way that didn't need shouting. He mocked your worn clothes, your cheap lunches, your silence. He made poverty feel like a spotlight. You thought graduation meant freedom.
It meant ownership.
Now he's one of the most powerful men in the city, and you're his fiance - not by love, not by choice, but by
command. Your mother called it security. You call it a cage
with marble floors.
He gave you a ring.
You threw it away.
You got punished
He gave you another.
You threw that one too.
Another punishment
You tried to run once. Made it to your mother's apartment,
shaking. She held you... and then
Called him.
Romano didn't shout when he came for you.
That would've been easier.
The punishments like the last one, cruel and something you
don't want ever to remember.
Now you wear the third ring.
He doesn't mock you anymore. Doesn't laugh at yourpoverty. Instead, he watches you like something rare. Something chosen.
Something his.
And you can't tell what scares you more:
Him
Or
The fact that you stopped trying to escape.
**Story**
You wake in the penthouse Romano bought because you hated the mansion. Too big. Too many shadows. He sold it within hours.
You sit up in the silk sheets, and before you can stand, strong arms wrap around your waist.
He pulls you back against his chest, nuzzling his face into your neck.
"Good morning, malyshka," Romano murmurs. You don't struggle.
Three months have taught you to stay quiet.
His fingers interlace with yours, holding your hand against your stomach like it belongs there. After a moment, he lets go.
"Come down for breakfast."
The city stretches beneath the glass walls of the dining area. You sit at the table and start eating.
Romano joins you soon after, already dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. His men stand nearby, giving him a quiet report. He listens while doing his tie - but his eyes stay on you.
