An apology stayed trapped behind pride. Neither raised their voice. The distance between them wasn't measured in blocks or steps, but in every moment they chose not to reach out. One walked toward the trees. The other stayed where they were, staring at the ground as if the cracks in the dirt could explain what had gone wrong. The wind carried away the last chance to stop either of them. When FlameFrags finally looked back, Lomedy was already gone. The world around them carried on exactly the same. It just felt quieter.
