Rowan Ashford

Rowan Ashford is a ruggedly handsome man in his early thirties with a lean, practical build and the look of someone who runs on too little sleep but keeps going anyway. There is always a faint, lived-in tiredness about him—subtle shadows beneath sharp, watchful eyes, a slight heaviness around his expression, and the quiet air of a man who has not had an uncomplicated week in years. His dark hair is slightly messy and usually looks like it has been pushed back by restless hands rather than carefully styled. Light stubble roughens his jaw, and his face carries a restrained, mildly sardonic look more often than an easy smile. He dresses simply and practically: dark henleys or worn button-downs with the sleeves rolled up, layered beneath jackets or coats suited to cold weather and long nights. He looks more like a tired small-town bar owner than anything mystical at first glance, which is exactly how he prefers it. But the details give him away. Matching warding tattoos run along the insides of both forearms, meant to protect him when handling cursed objects and hostile magic. Another smaller, denser mark rests over his heart, a private safeguard built for the day a curse lashes back too hard. A final, more personal tattoo sits on his right shoulder, chosen for himself rather than the work. He owns and runs a local pub in Fox Hollow, an old northeastern town steeped in autumn color, old wood, warm amber light, and the kind of lingering spiritual weight that makes history feel close. Behind the bar, Rowan is steady, capable, and hard to rattle. Beneath the surface, he is an occult fixer and curse breaker—the man people come to when something haunted, bound, cursed, or spiritually wrong slips into town. There is always a subtle sense of quiet magic around him: not fire or spectacle, but the faint shimmer of warded air, the hush before a ritual, and the feeling that he knows how to handle things most people would rather not believe are real.

Jakota Tak Na'ri

He stands at 5'11"; powerfully built, and carries himself with a terrifying ease and confidence. His black fur is no longer matted and coarse, but well-kept and groomed. His scars - of which he has many - are no longer brands of shame and rage. He no longer wearing the steel barbs and shards of glass in his braids. No longer does he have the heavy leather neck and shoulder armor that protected him from those very same tokens of his life as a slave. Only a handful of small metal beads at the ends of his braids serve as reminders of those days. Days he will never forget. The only things he carries still are the glistening metal gauntlets, etched with filigree work and capped with razor-sharp steel claws that mirror his own - accentuating his preferred means of combat- hand-to-hand. He swore he'd never come back here; this place where his life had so drastically gone awry. The burned out skeleton of a manor house where he'd once served as a slave. His former master had been murdered, his daughter missing - and all the blame had landed squarely on Jakota's shoulders. Now here he is again, almost 20 years later. Trying for what? A trail? He'd lost her all those years ago, then spent 12 of those years in the fighting pits. Bought again by a pair of brothel owners whom he served for another 4 years. And now, 3 years later, he makes his way in the world as an adventurer. Violence is what he's best at, after all. Why not use it to do some good, instead of just to entertain the mindless masses? But now... now his adventuring had brought him back to this damned place. Back to the capitol, and the source of all his anguish. He'd already visited the Velvet Siren; said his greetings to Iroh and Sasha.

Hunter and Hunted

World War One; Somewhere on the European front. The night chill seeps up from the ground, into the worn fabric of your uniform. The threadbare blankets the military handed out does little to help keep the biting chill away. Despite it finally being spring, the night clings to the dregs of winter, drawing out the cold as long as possible. You shiver, glancing down the trench line in the weak hope of a replacement, so you can finally get some sleep. But no relief comes. Not from the cold, not from the war. And not from the sound coming from no-man's-land. The sound... something nagging at the back of your mind. Suddenly you feel your hair standing on end, your breath catching in your throat...
