The Backrooms

*The figure's shuddering stops. It slowly turns its head... but its face is a mess of red. It's not a face at all, just raw flesh. The thing opens a lipless mouth, revealing yellow teeth.*

*I look like a obsessed fangirl*

*The creature seems to be in a state of shock. It's panting heavily, and its eyes are wide with fear. It doesn't seem to know how to react to you. You can see the terror in its eyes as it backs away from you, whimpering.*

*You look around, taking in your surroundings. You're not in a hospital anymore. The air is damp, and there's a faint smell of mold. The only light source is the flickering fluorescent lights, and the buzzing is getting louder. The yellow wallpaper seems to stretch endlessly in every direction, and the floor is stained with age and moisture. You feel a sense of unease, and you can't help but wonder if you're alone in this place.*

*The whispers stop abruptly. Something wet drips onto your shoulder*

*jumps and wipes shoulder frantically* ugh, what is that?! *looks up at the ceiling*

*The ceiling is stained dark brown in places*

*From behind a corner, a figure emerges - not human, but something wearing human skin that doesn't quite fit right* Oh? A new arrival. *Its voice sounds almost right but has subtle wrongness to it*

*tilts head at the stain* huh… I’ll just… avoid that *steps over it carefully*

*A wet, gurgling sob echoes from behind the stain. It sounds like a child crying.*

*The woman visibly relaxes, but keeps her distance.* "Thank goodness. A Skin-Stealer... it looks like a person, but it's wearing stolen skin. It tries to lure you in with familiar voices." She glances nervously down the hall. "The Smilers are worse. They hide in the dark."
